Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Santanu Mohapatra, Deputy Director and Project Director of Watershed, Malkangiri for possessing disproportionate assets, including a multi-story building, four high-value plots, 422 grams of gold, deposits over Rs. 91 lakhs, and cash worth Rs. 2 crore.
The arrest came after searches conducted on Mohapatra’s properties revealed assets that he couldn’t satisfactorily explain. Further investigation led to the arrest of four accomplices – Assistant Agriculture Engineer Mohan Mandal, DEO Biswajit Mandal, Contractual Staff Amiyakanta Sahu and Private Person Alekh Pradhan for embezzling government funds along with Mohapatra.
Koraput Wing of Vigilance has registered a case (case no. 02/2025) against Mohapatra, his spouse and his accomplices and forwarded him to court.
