Malkangiri: A huge quantity of explosives used in making IEDs was seized from a Maoist dump in a forest bear Dayaltung village under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district along the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border on Wednesday morning.
According to an official release issued by the Malkangiri Police, the explosives were seized from an underground dump of the outlawed Maoists during a joint raid by the District Volunteer Force (DVF) and Intelligence team. The seized explosives include 190 gelatine sticks and 29 kg of IED-making materials.
Malkangiri Police have claimed that the seizure of the explosives has given a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national designs of Maoists in this area. “We suspect that these explosives along with other articles belong to the Maoist cadres of AOBSZC and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive and anti-national activities and to show their presence again in this area. In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations are going on in this area,” the release said.
