Malkangiri: The Malkangiri district administration has arrested nine more people in connection with the MV 26 violence and arson incident, bringing the total number of arrests to 15. The police are still searching for others involved in the incident.
Relief material from the Indian Red Cross Society reached the affected village 7 days after the violence. The district administration is distributing relief materials and providing cooked food, blankets, dress materials, kitchen sets, tarpaulins, utensils and water pots to the affected families. Rehabilitation work is also underway.
Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi visited MV 26 and Rakhalguda village to review the situation. He met with the District Magistrate and went door-to-door to assess the damage and speak with the affected families.
The MP stated that the situation is gradually improving, with efforts being made to restore normalcy. The district administration has arranged for electricity and drinking water connections in the affected areas. However, schools remain closed, and students are facing difficulties.
Malkangiri District Collector announced plans to reopen schools soon, with mid-day meal arrangements for students. As the situation improves, Section 163 of the BNS has been lifted from MV 26 and Rakhalguda village. Internet services will remain suspended in the district until tomorrow due to security concerns.
The police have tightened security arrangements to prevent further violence.
