Mamita Meher Case: “BJP Conspiring To Let Prime Accused Go Scott-Free,” Says BJD

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD MLA Pratap Keshari Deb levelled allegations on the BJP of conspiring to let the prime accused in Mamita Meher murder case, Gobinda Sahu go scott-free.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Deb said, “An active member of the party and a noted leader is fighting the case on behalf of Sahu at the Court of Additional District Magistrate, Kantabanji.”

“While the opposition party created a pandeonium in the Assembly over this sensitive case to gain political mileage, the outcry is farcical,” said Deb.

“The aforementioned BJP leader has actively participated in the party’s Jan Sampark Yatra and many other programmes. He was also a frontrunner for the BJP ticket from Kantabanji in 2019 elections,” the BJD leader added.

The regional party said the opposition does not have any substantial evidence to prove Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra’s involvement in the murder of lady teacher Meher.
