Mamita Meher Murder: Family Moves Orissa High Court, Seeks Impartial Probe

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the family of the murdered principal of Sunshine English Medium School of Mahaling in Kalahandi district Mamita Meher today moved the Orissa High Court seeking a time-bound impartial probe.

The family has sought a trial of the case in a fast track court.

The State Home Secretary, DGP, Bolangir Collector and Superintendent of Police and Sindhekela IIC have been named as opposite parties in the petition filed by the family.

Notably, the principal of Sunshine English Medium School of Mahaling Mamita had gone missing on October 8. Buried remains of her charred body were recovered from a 10 ft deep pit inside the under-construction Mahaling stadium. Prime accused Gobinda Sahu, president of the school’s managing committee and his driver Radheshyam Chandi have been arrested by the police.

On the other hand, opposition parties BJP and Congress have taken to the street demanding a fair probe in the murder case while demanding the resignation of Minister of State (MoS) Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged closeness with the prime accused.
