Bhubaneswar: Govind Sahu, the prime accused in the lady teacher Mamita Mehera murder case, has filed a bail petition in the Court of the Additional District Judge, Kantabanji in Balangir district.
The next hearing of the case is scheduled for December 6.
Mamita, the Principal of Sunshine School of Mahaling, had been killed by Govind, president of the school’s management committee, after she came to know about his illicit and extra-marital affair.
During the investigation, police had found that Govind had murdered Mamita in his car bearing registration number OD-08-K-1002 on October 8. Later on October 9, her body was burned and buried in Mahaling High School Stadium premises.
Govind is reportedly the contractor for the construction of the stadium. He had been detained on October 11 after an FIR was lodged against him by Mamita’s brother Bunty.
He had managed to escape from Titlagarh police barrack on October 17 but was later apprehended on October 19 while he was hiding in a sugarcane field in Budhipadar village under Bangomunda block of Balangir district.
