Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Friday submitted the status report in the Orissa High Court regarding the investigation into the lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case.

The Orissa High Court on November 18 had sought a status report from Odisha Government on the investigation into the lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case. The court had fixed December 3 as the next date of hearing in the matter.

Reportedly, the family of the murdered principal of Sunshine English Medium School of Mahaling in Kalahandi district, Mamita Meher, had moved the Orissa High Court on November 17 seeking a time-bound impartial probe.

The family sought a trial of the case in a fast-track court. The State Home Secretary, DGP, Bolangir Collector, and Superintendent of Police, and Sindhekela IIC have been named as opposite parties in the petition filed by the family.

Notably, Mamita had gone missing on October 8. Buried remains of her charred body were recovered from a 10 ft deep pit inside the under-construction Mahaling stadium. Prime accused Gobinda Sahu, who is president of the school’s managing committee, and his driver Radheshyam Chandi have been arrested by the police.
