Dhenkanal: A man is reported to have accidentally shot and killed his friend during a hunting expedition at Kadalipal village under Rasol police station in Dhenkanal district. The incident took place late Thursday night near a cashew forest in the region.
According to police, four friends from Manpur village had ventured into the forest for hunting. In a tragic twist, a hunting trip turned deadly when Prashant Nayak accidentally shot and killed his friend, Babula Nayal, after mistaking him for prey.
Panicked, the other friends allegedly hid the body in the cashew forest near Kanpur village and returned home. Babula’s wife, Jhilli Nayak, was later informed about his death, following which she alerted the villagers. The matter was then reported to Rasol police station.
Upon being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent the body to Hindol Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, police have detained Prashant and are interrogating him to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death. Further investigation is underway to unravel the mystery behind the incident.
