Rayagada: A man allegedly killed his eight-month pregnant wife over a family dispute in Ghadabangi village under Bisamcuttack police limits in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rita, while the accused has been identified as Laxman Mandika.

According to reports, after allegedly killing his wife, Laxman called her family members saying Rita was ill and her condition was deteriorating every minute.

Rita’s family members rushed her to the Bisamcuttack Community Hospital Center (CHC) where the doctors declared her dead.

However, the hospital authorities suspected foul play when they noticed rope marks on her neck. They immediately informed the local police. The police have sent the body for post-mortem and launched an investigation into the woman’s death.

Meanwhile, Rita’s family members have alleged that she was killed by Laxman.
