Cuttack: The Cyber and Economic Offence police in Cuttack on Sunday arrested one Mithun Bhoi for allegedly impersonating famous Ollywood directors and making obscene calls to various film and television soap actresses and forwarded him to court.
Cuttack Additional DCP Anil Mishra said that the accused, a small-time actor, obtained the mobile phone numbers of different actresses and initially chatted with them on WhatsApp pretending to be film directors. Later, he started talking dirty with the actresses with the motive of extracting money from them.
Additional DCP Mishra added that they received a complaint from film director Sudhanshu Mohan Sahoo on August 27, 2022, alleging that someone had created a fake account on WhatsApp using his photograph and talking dirty with various women, including actresses.
Acting on the complaint, the police nabbed Mithun Bhoi but released him after a warning. However, the accused continued to impersonate film directors to harass the actresses. Following fresh complaints in this regard, the Cyber and Economic Offence police arrested Mithun Bhoi and forwarded him to court on Sunday.
