Mayurbhanj: Kuliana Police in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district arrested a person on charges of molesting and killing his seven-year-old niece. The accused has been arrested and identified as Ramesh Chandra Dehuri.
According to reports, the minor was alone when the accused visited her house on Saturday morning. Her family members had gone to the polling booth to exercise their franchise. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly lured her to a desolate place and raped her. Later, fearing that the girl might tell the incident to her parents, he strangled her to death.
When the girl’s family returned home in the afternoon, they did not find her anywhere and launched a frantic search for her. Sometime later, they spotted the girl’s naked body in an isolated place. When they inquired about how the little girl could reach the place, villagers told them that they had seen Dehuri taking her to the isolated place.
Soon, the villagers nabbed Dehuri and thrashed him severely. Later, they handed him over to the Kuliana Police. On their part, the Kulian police station registered a case under Sections 376(AB), 302 IPC, and POCSO Act and investigated the brutal incident.
