Dhenkanal: The police and forest officials on Wednesday arrested a man who was selling a musical instrument made up of monitor lizard’s skin. Total four such musical instruments were seized from his possession. The instrument, ‘Khanjani’, is made using the skin of land monitor lizards, an endangered species.
The man was apprehended by a Forester of Joranda Section of Sadangi Forest Range on Tuesday night. He was trying to sell the Khanjani at Mahima Math, reports stated. The person was produced before the court of JMFC which remanded him in judicial custody, the Forest officials said.
