**Soro:** A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a class 9th girl student at Kasaba Jaipur village under Khantapada police limits here on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Uma Shankar Choudhury.
According to reports, the minor girl was going for her tuition classes to the nearby village when she came across three men consuming alcohol by roadside. One of the them forcibly took her to the nearby jungle and attempted to rape her. Hearing the girl’s cry, the villagers rushed to rescue her and handed over the accused to the local police.
The police have started its investigation into the matter.
Khantapada IIC, Purnachandra Puli informed, “We have arrested the accused and will soon forward him to the court. The victim has filed an FIR against three people and we are investigating about the other two people.”
