Jeypore: A man was axed to death by her uncle (maternal) after a fight over card game at Sarujaba village under Baipariguda police limits in Koraput district, police said on Tuesday.
Both the accused and victim’s names are the same as Leri Gadaba.
The incident took place on November 19 when the accused and victim engaged in a brawl over card game. Irked, the nephew first attempted to assault his uncle with an axe. His aunt snatched the axe from him and threw it.
At that time uncle picked up the axe and hacked his nephew. The grievously injured nephew died while being taken to hospital, Baipariguda IIC SK Satpathy said.
“On being informed, our team reached there with a scientific team. We seized the body and the axe used in the crime. The axe will be sent to the forensic laboratory for examination,” Satpathy added.
The accused has been arrested and forwarded to court.
A case has been registered. Investigation underway, he said.
The IIC is the investigating officer (IO) in the case.
