Cuttack: A gruesome murder took place in Gopalpur area of Cuttack when a young man was beaten to death with an iron rod.
The victim, identified as Chakradhar Maharana, was sitting in a tea shop when the accused attacked him.
The accused has been arrested by the Sadar police station and is currently in police custody. The police are investigating the incident.
Chakradhar was staying in a rented accommodation in the local area. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
“The accused, a mentally deranged person, suddenly attacked Maharana with an iron rod from behind. The accused is a resident of Andhra Pradesh. We, two or three persons, were sitting there and ran away in fear. We don’t know the motive behind the murder. The deceased was my regular customer and a good person,” tea vendor Pramod Sahu said.
