Jharsuguda: A 49-year-old man was allegedly bludgeoned to death late Saturday night in Barihapada village under Bagdihi area under Laikera police station in Jharsuguda district.
The deceased has been identified as Nir Nunan, a resident of Barihapada.
According to reports, Bhagwan Bagh (42), a driver from Barpan village, had consumed alcohol with Nunan on Saturday evening. The duo later headed towards Khadiamal village on a motorcycle. An altercation reportedly took place between them in a forested area at the outskirts of Barihapada, during which Bhagwan allegedly attacked Nunan with a blunt object, resulting in his death. After the incident, the accused returned to the village.
Upon receiving information, Laikera police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. Based on a complaint lodged at the Bagdihi outpost, police detained Bhagwan Bagh for further investigation.
A case has been registered and further inquiry is underway.
