Puri: Like Shravan Kumar character of the Ramayana, a man carried his 95-year-old mother on a sling to fulfill her last wish to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath.
Basanta Behera, a native of Cuttack district on reaching Puri put his 95-year-old mother Sharada Devi in a basket and his daughter in another basket, tied each basket to the end of a bamboo pole, which he carried on his shoulder from Marchikote chhak to Singhadwar.
On reaching Singhadwar (Lions Gate) of the Shree Jagannath Temple, policemen on duty and temple employees joined hands with Basanta to carry Sharada Devi inside the temple and facilitated in fulfilling her last wish to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath.
