Man Caught With 1 Kg Gold Concealed In Rectum At City Airport

Bhubaneswar: A passenger was caught while smuggling gold at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.

He concealed around 1 kg gold capsules in his rectum while the Custom department seized them after a through checking.

The passenger landed in Bhubaneswar from Bangkok with the precious metal hidden in his rectum.

The custom officials and airport authorities examined him with the help of metal detector. However, they failed to detect the gold.

On a specific intelligence input, the Customs officials examined him inside the washroom and found the precious metals concealed in his rectum.

The officials arrested him after he failed to give satisfactory reasons.

The smuggler was on his way to Mumbai from Bangkok. The value of the seized gold is estimated to be of around Rs 70 lakh.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the sources and destination of the illegal cache of gold.
