Puri: Singhadwar police have detained a person for climbing atop the Shree Jagannath Temple here in the afternoon today.
According to reports, the priest of Agniswar Mahadev Chandrasekhar Panda was sighted atop the 214 feet high temple near the Neela Chakra by Chunra servitors.
Panda was repeatedly requested by the police and Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) to climb down.
However, after remaining adamant for some time, Panda climbed down through the roof of Dakshini ghar in front of the Mukti Mandap.
He has been detained and is being interrogated by the police.
