Koraput: Circumstances forced a man to remarry his wife after two years. Such an incident has occurred at Podapadar village under B Singpur gram panchayat in Borigumma block of Koraput district
Reportedly, the man identified as Ghasi Amanatya and a few other villagers had left for Andhra Pradesh two years back to work as migrant labourers. A few months later, he went missing from there.
His fellow villagers searched for him for days together but were unable to trace him. Eight months after he went missing, villagers and family members considered him dead and performed his last rites.
Ghasi’s wife Subarna had been living as a widow since that day but she and the villagers were surprised when he returned home two months back. Ghasi narrated his ordeal to the villagers and subsequently, the village elders called a meeting.
The elders decided that Ghasi will remarry his wife Subarna as per tradition and finally the wedding was held at the local Shiva Temple in presence of family members and villagers.
