Balasore: A man consumed poison after seeing police officers, fearing arrest for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend by slitting her throat in Balasore district.
The accused, identified as Biswaranjan Puhan, was arrested from Dhalasahi under Basudevpur police limits in Bhadrak district.
According to reports, Biswaranjan had been on the run after allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend at Lingapada village in the Soro area on February 24. After committing the crime, he kept changing locations to evade arrest.
To capture him, Soro Police Station Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Sangram Behera formed four special teams. With the assistance of police officials Nanda Kishore Biswal and Keshab Chandra Beshra, searches were conducted at various locations.
However, upon spotting the police today, Biswaranjan panicked and consumed poison.
The police immediately rescued him and took him to Basudevpur Hospital. Later, he was shifted to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for further treatment.
