Balangir: A person was allegedly hacked to death with a spade by his nephew at Tulsinagar under Town Police Station limits in Balangir late last night.
The deceased has been identified as Jadumani Bagarti.
Police suspect a family dispute led to the gruesome murder, with the nephew, Aju Bisi, being detained for questioning.
According to reports, Jadumani was found lying in a pool of blood at around 11 pm. Though locals kept mum about the incident, a broken spade found near the scene hinted at foul play.
Upon receiving the information, Town Police rushed to the scene and shifted Jadumani to Bhima Bhoi Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Police believe Jadumani was likely attacked with the spade.
The murder has sparked tension in the city, with the police launching an investigation into the incident.
