Balangir: In a shocking incident of domestic violence, a woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband at Khuntiapada in Jamapada village under Sindhekela police limits in Balangir district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Pushpanjali Rana.

According to preliminary information, her husband, Krupa Rana, allegedly used the saree she was wearing to strangle her inside their house.

After committing the crime, the accused reportedly attempted to flee from the village. However, personnel from Sindhekela police station apprehended him before he could escape. He has been brought to the police station, detained, and is currently being interrogated.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. The body was found lying inside the house, following which an investigation was initiated. A scientific team has also been deployed to conduct a detailed examination of the crime scene and collect evidence.

Villagers alleged that the couple had been engaged in frequent quarrels over the past few days, which may have led to the tragic incident. However, police officials stated that the exact motive behind the murder will be established only after a thorough investigation.

Further investigation is underway.
