Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, one man died after his car fell into the Pattamundai canal near Bheda village, which comes under Mahanga police station limits in Cuttack district, on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar Rout of Arilo village, Sahapur Panchayat, which falls under the jurisdiction of Mahanga police.
According to reports, Anil was on his way to Bhubaneswar to meet his father, Brahmananda Rout, when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to fall into the Pattamundai canal.
After learning about the incident, farmers nearby rushed to the accident spot and rescued injured Anil from the vehicle by breaking open its window.
Anil was quickly shifted to the Mahanga Community Health Centre for treatment, where he was declared dead by the doctors.
