Man Dies After Falling Into Murram Quarry In Balasore

Bhubaneswar: A person reportedly died after falling into a murram quarry at Digibhanra village under Soro block in Balasore district, on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old man Laxmidhar Samal. The body was recovered by firefighters after a lengthy rescue operation.

According to sources, Laxmidhar was missing since Monday afternoon and his family members had searched for him in various locations. After receiving information that he was last seen near the quarry, the family members rushed to the area and informed the firefighters.

Upon being informed, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the body from a depth of around 25 feet. Laxmidhar was taken to the Soro Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police have registered a case and began an investigation.
