Balasore: The Industrial police here on Monday arrested one person on charges of fraud. The accused in this case was posing as the Councilor of the Councellor of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and defrauding examinees.
According to SP Sagarika Nath, the accused extorted money from students on repeated occasions. He assured the students of manipulating their marks and if they did not comply, he threatened to destroy their careers.
The amount of money he has duped students of so far has been estimated at Rs 3 lakh. The money was parked in accounts created by forgery and the money was collected through UPI platforms. A thorough inquiry is underway, the SP added.
