Bargarh: A 27-year-old man was found hanging in the Balitikra area under Bargarh Town Police Station on Tuesday, raising suspicions of foul play.
The deceased has been identified as Subham Mohanty, a resident of Khajurtikra village, who worked as a manager at a private guest house.
According to neighbors, Mohanty had been in a relationship with a girl for over four years. However, when he proposed marriage, the girl reportedly refused.
On Tuesday, Mohanty was on duty at the guest house around 6 a.m. and left the premises around 8 p.m., but did not return home. Concerned about his disappearance, his family began searching for him and lodged a complaint at the Bargarh Town Police Station around midnight.
“We were informed that a dead body was found hanging this morning. It does not appear to be a straightforward suicide. His family suspects that someone may have murdered him and staged it as hanging. The truth is yet to be known, and we demand a proper investigation,” said neighbor Pratap Chandra Nayak.
The Bargarh Town Police reached the spot and have launched an investigation into the incident.
