Bhubaneswar: A man was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for raping is neighbour five years ago in Kendrapara.
A fast-track special court in Kendrapara also ordered the convict Gunanidhi Mallik to pay a fine of Rs 31,000 for the offence.
The court pronounced the verdict based on the statement of 12 witnesses and other evidence.
Gunanidhi had sexually abused a woman in his neighbour at Chakoda village under Town police station in Kendrapara district on June 16, 2019. The woman had lodged a complaint with police, based on which police registered a case and subsequently arrested the accused.
