Dharmagarh: The Additional District Judge Court here today sentenced one Vaishnav Majhi of Karmeli village under Jaipatna police limits to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a young girl of the same village in 2010.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on Majhi. On failure to pay the fine, Majhi has to undergo RI for one more year in addition to the sentence.
The young girl had gone to pluck vegetables one km away from her village. Finding her alone Majhi had raped her. The victim’s family had lodged a complaint with the Jaipatna police in this connection.
