Baripada: The Mayurbhanj Special Fast Track POCSO Court has sentenced a 38-year-old man to 20 years in prison for raping a minor girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000, with an additional nine months’ imprisonment in case of default.

Sarat Parmanik (38), a resident of Maanamhoha village under Rasgobindpur police station, had a love affair with the minor girl and repeatedly raped her, recording videos and photos without her consent. He threatened to make them viral when she refused to continue the relationship.

The court, after considering witness statements, medical reports, and police investigation, delivered the verdict. The District Legal Services Authority was directed to provide Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the victim.
