Sundargarh: The Sundargarh Special POCSO Court has sentenced a person convicted of raping a minor two and a half years ago to 20 years of imprisonment. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict, with an additional year of imprisonment if the fine remains unpaid.
The convict, Kuna Pradhan, was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 20,000. In case of non-payment of the fine, an additional one-year jail term was ordered. The court also directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide Rs 7 lakh as compassionate compensation to the victim’s family.
According to the case details, in February 2023, the police arrested Kuna Pradhan in connection with the rape of a 9-year-old girl in the Hemagiri police station area.
