Bhubaneswar: The district and sessions court in Jagatsinghpur sentenced a man to life imprisonment in connection with a murder case that occurred on December 16, 2021.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on convict Ranjan Biswal.
According to reports, Ranjan Biswal was urinating in front of Abhay Nayak’s house in Nimapada village of Jagatsinghpur district. At this time, Abhay opposed him which led to an altercation. The verbal duel took an ugly turn when Ranjan hit Abhay with a stick in which he sustained critical injuries on head.
Abhay was immediately admitted to Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. However, he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
Krishna Rani Sahu, the wife of deceased Abhaya Nayak, lodged a comlaint at Jagatsinghpur police station. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested Ranjan before forwarding him to court.
