Bhubaneswar: A man was awarded life imprisonment in connection with a double murder case in Kujanga of Jagatsinghpur district.
The Additional District and Sessions judge in Kujanga pronounced the verdict based on statements of witnesses and scientific evidence.
The convict Jyotiprakash Nathsarma alias Kalia had committed the crime in June 2023.
He had murdered two women separately. A woman was plucking flowers on the roadside in Kujung Expressway Colony. At that time, Kalia hacked her with a sword killing her on the spot.
Later, Kalia’s anger did not stop there. On his way home, he also attacked another woman who was opening the gate of her house and was killed brutally. He murdered two persons in a single day.
Kujang police had arrested him and investigated the case.
The court passed the judgement one year after the crime.
