Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly hacked his father to death over a family dispute at Dunguripali village under Paikamal police limits in Bargarh district, on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Dhananjay Ajagar, a resident of Dunguripali village. The accused son Vidyadhar Ajagar is reported to have fled the scene after committing the crime.

According to sources, Dhananjay used to quarrel with his wife and beat her over petty issues. Disturbed by the daily fights of his parents, Vidyadhar sent his mother to his uncle’s house.

Last night, Dhananjay came to his house in an inebriated condition and picked up a fight with Vidyadhara for sending his wife without taking his permission. This led to an argument between the father-son duo.

An enraged Vidyadhar, in a fit of rage, hacked his father to death

Dhananjay was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Burla Medical College and Hospital. However, he died at the hospital while undergoing treatment.

On a tip-off, police rushed to the spot and began an investigation into it.
