Man Hacks Son To Death Over Family Dispute In Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a bizarre incident, a man allegedly hacked his son to death with a machete following an altercation between the two over a family dispute at Sunagadia village in Gobindpur gram panchayat under Bont police limits in Bhadrak district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sankarshan Barik (35). Father of Sankarshan, Madhab Barik (62) who was also injured in the brawl was initially admitted to the district headquarters hospital in critical condition. He has been shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital at Cuttack as his health deteriorated.

According to reports, Madhab had an altercation with his son Sankarshan over some matter in the forenoon. The altercation got heated and both the father and son pulled out machetes kept in the house and attacked each other.

While Sankarshan died on the spot, Madhab who was lying in a pool of blood was rescued by fellow villagers and rushed to the district headquarters hospital.

On being informed Bont police have seized Sankarshan’s body and sent it for post-mortem. The weapon of offence has been also seized by the police.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
