Koraput: In a barbaric act, a man hacked his wife to death at Dakri Beda village under Dashamantpur block of Koraput district in Odisha on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Mamita.
According to information, Ajaya Muduli married Mamita last year. They led a very good conjugal life for a few months but later disagreement erupted between them over some issues.
On Thursday, Ajaya and Mamita, after a day-long work at their cultivable land, were returning home in the afternoon when heated arguments erupted between them midway. In a fit of rage, Ajay attacked Mamita with an axe he was holding then. Mamita fell into a pool of blood and died on the spot.
On being informed, Dasamantapur police station IIC Chandrabhanu Mohanty reached the spot and seized the body and took Ajaya into custody. While police were interrogating him, a scientific team reached the village and in examining various aspects of the spot.
Dasamantpur police station IIC Chandrabhanu Mohanty said that the accused Ajaya Muduli confessed his crime.
