Bhubaneswar: A man surrendered before police on Sunday after allegedly hacking his wife to death over marital discord in Telkoi area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
The accused has been identified as Rathia Sethi, a resident of Ragada village under Telkoi police limit.
According to police, Rathia often quarreled with his wife Sulochana Behera over dowry and other family issues. On Sunday, the couple engaged in a violent argument and Rathia attacked his wife with an axe killing her on the spot.
Later, Rathia surrendered before the police and confessed to the crime.
Meanwhile, Sulochana’s father alleged that Rathia used to torture Sulochana for dowry. A few days ago, he also allegedly threatened to kill Sulochana.
The police said they have taken the accused in custody and launched a probe into the incident. A scientific team has been sent to the spot.
