Bhubaneswar: Fed up with his son’s drinking habit, a frustrated father killed him at Singamilla village under Baliguda police station in Kandhamal district, on Friday night.

The deceased, Jitendra Mallick, 22, was a habitual drunkard and used to create a ruckus at home.

It is reported that Jitendra was unemployed. He used to drink excessively and misbehave with his family members. His father Praneswar had warned him several times, but he did not mend his ways.

On Friday night, Jitendra returned home late and started knocking on the door. As his father Praneswar delayed opening the door, Jitendra started abusing him like anything.

Enraged, Praneswar picked up a knife and stabbed Jitendra. He died on the spot.

Upon being informed, Baliguda police arrested Praneswar and seized the body of Jitendra for post-mortem. Police will produce Praneswar in court soon.
