Man Injured In Firing Over Domestic Dispute In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A man sustained bullet injuries after his friend opened fire on him during a domestic dispute at Paniora village under Chandaka police station in the early hours of Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Purna Chandra Nayak, a resident of Paniora village. He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

The accused, Biswajit Sahu, was immediately detained by the police. Police also seized the firearm used in the incident.

According to reports, the two men were friends who had been involved in a disagreement over a domestic issue. During the altercation, Biswajit allegedly fired at Purna Chandra, resulting in the latter sustaining bullet injuries.

Chandaka police arrived at the scene soon after the incident, confiscated the weapon from Biswajit and took him into custody.

“The investigation into the cause of the dispute is ongoing,” said Biswajit Manbodha, Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Chandaka police station.
