Baripada: A cracker businessman died after an explosion occurred in cracker storage at Mahulapatna under Baisinga police station in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Badal alias Khageswar Palei (56) of Mahulapatna village.
According to reports, the explosion took place in a makeshift house filled with crackers, gunpowder and other explosive materials on Saturday afternoon while Khageswar was selling the crackers.
Khageswara died on the spot in the explosion. The intensity of the explosion was so high that the entire village was shaken. Hearing the explosion, locals rushed to the spot and found Khageswar’s half-burnt body lying on the ground. However, the roof of the temporary house was blown away in the explosion
Baisinga police reached the spot and started an investigation.
The body has been seized for post-mortem.
