Bhubaneswar: In yet another incident of man-animal attack, a man returning home on his motorbike was trampled to death by a pachyderm on Sunday night.
According to reports, Hadibandhu Bhoi of Sanhinsh village under Bantala police station in Angul district had gone to some place for some work on Sunday. While he was returning home at around 8.00 pm, an elephant attacked him near his village.
Later, local villagers found Hadibandhu lying dead on the road and informed his family. Soon a police team arrived at the spot and started an investigation.
On April 24, an elephant at Badakantakula village under Bantala police limits killed two women. Similarly, on January 7, four persons were killed after by a wild elephant at different places in Angul. Later, the same elephant went on a rampage and killed the four people at Cheliapada, Barasingha, Angarbandh, and Santri villages.
So far, at least 10 people have lost their lives in elephant attacks in the Bantala area in the last four months.
