Dhenkanal: One person was killed in the afternoon today after he was attacked by a tusker near Neulapoi panchayat in Dhenkanal district.
The deceased has been identified as Bipin Mohanty of Birikhunti village.
According to reports, Mohanty, a mason by profession was chased by a tusker near Neulapoi panchayat while he was returning home on his scooter after finishing work.
Scared of the jumbo, Mohanty ran towards the field leaving his scooter behind on the road. However, he was chased and attacked by the tusker leading to his death.
Following the incident, locals blocked the Dhenkanal-Joranda road at Neulapoi in protest.
