Dhenkanal: A former member of the Kamakshanagar Thana Dighi Panchayat was brutally killed in Kamakshanagar Dighi village in Odsha’s Dhenkanal district on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sarbeswar Rout.
According to reports, Sarbeswar was attacked by unidentified miscreants near Damanwala Jor when he was returning from a leased cashew orchard late Sunday night. Hearing his cries for help, locals rescued him and rushed him to a nearby health facility. However, he breathed his last on the way to the hospital.
The Kamakshanagar police have launched an investigation into the murder and detained five people in connection with the incident.
Initial probe suggests that Sarbeswar was attacked over past enmity.
