**Puri**: In a brazen act, some bike-borne miscreants open fired at a couple at Satasanka Suare in the district on Friday leaving the husband – 35 year old Niranjan Behera dead on the spot and wife- Renubala Behera injured when they were returning from the holy city.
According to reports, the miscreants, who were coming from Bhubaneswar started firing after having a scuffle with the couple as they were trying to snatch chains at Satasankha square on Puri-Bhubaneswar highway this after.
The Renubala was admitted to Puri district headquarters hospital for treatment and is believed t be critical.
The couple hailing from Baghchai village in Jajpur district was on its way to Puri to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath.
