Angul: A man was allegedly murdered at Talapada village under Kaniha police limits of Angul district over suspicion of practicing sorcery. The deceased has been identified as Arun Nayak.
As per a complaint lodged by Arun’s wife Anita at Kaniha Police Station on Wednesday, she had gone to her parents’ house at Kardakhaman in Rengali six days back. It was during her absence that Arun was murdered.
She alleged that Suresh Behera, Katu Behera, and Malia Behera of the village had earlier accused Arun of practicing sorcery. They had also thrashed him and threatened to kill him.
Meanwhile, Kaniha Police have sent Arun’s body for post-mortem and have registered a case and initiated a probe based on Anita’s complaint.
