Baripada: In a grisly incident, a man allegedly murdered a differently abled minor girl at Saranda village under Gorumahisani police limits in Mayurbhanj district today.
Gorumahisani police have detained the accused and are interrogating him.
According to reports, Repo Murmu of Saranda village today allegedly murdered a fellow villager Krushna Chandra Giri’s 14-year-old differently abled daughter Lipi Giri by slitting her throat with a traditional vegetable cutter while she was alone in her house.
A the time of the gruesome murder Krushna Chandra and his wife had gone to work in their paddy field leaving their daughter Lipi alone in the house.
While Lipi died instantaneously on the spot, villagers overpowered Repo and informed the police.
On being informed Gorumahisani police have launched an investigation into the incident and have detained Repo for questioning at the police station.
A scientific team from here has also rushed to Saranda to help in the process of investigation.
