Baripada: In a shocking incident a man allegedly murdered his wife and then after packing her body in a sack dumped it in the Dhudibadi forest of Kendumandi village under Karanjia police limits of Mayurbanj district.
Police after recovering the body from the forest have detained the woman’s husband and her father-in-law in connection with the murder.
According to reports, Madhusudan Mohanta of Bisipur village under Karanjia police limits eight to nine years back had married Nirupama Mohanta.
On September 16, Nirupama after visiting Patabila panchayat returned home and asked her father-in-law for the key to her room. Nirupama and members of her father-in-law’s family entered into an altercation over the issue.
However, after the incident, Nirupama suddenly went missing. Suspecting foul play villagers informed Nirupama’s parents about her going missing. On September 18 Nirupama’s parents lodged a missing person complaint with Karanjia police.
Karanjia police detained Nirupama’s husband Madhusudan Mohanta and his father and launched an investigation into the matter.
During preliminary investigation, it came to light that Madhusudan had murdered his wife Nirupama and dumped her body in Dhudibadi forest near Kendumandi village. Madhusudan confessed to the crime before the police.
Today Karanjia police visited the spot and recovered the body. A scientific team of the police collected relevant evidence from the spot.
