Koraput: A man on Saturday allegedly murdered his wife by hitting her with an iron rod at Umuri under Jeypore Sadar police in Koraput district.
Accused Madhab Bhumia (45) has been arrested by Jeypore Sadar police.
According to the police, Madhab Bhumia of Umuri attacked his wife with an iron rod. The victim was lying in a pool of blood at their house following the attack.
On being informed Jeypore Sadar police rescued the woman in a critical condition and admitted her to the district headquarters hospital at Jeypore. The critically injured woman died while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
Jeypore Sadar police registered a case in this connection and arrested Madhab Bhumia, the deceased woman’s husband.
Police have forwarded the accused to court.
