Bhubaneswar: A team of the Special Task Force (STF) along with Digapahandi Forest officials conducted a raid in K Nuagaon area and apprehended a man possessing pangolin scales.
The person, identified as Prafulla Mallik is a native of Ramaguda, under K Nuagaon police limits. The STF recovered around 7 kg of pangolin scales from his possession.
“He could not produce any authority in support of the possession of pangolin scales. Mallik was been detained and handed over to Digapahandi Forest officials under Berhampur Forest Division,” the STF stated.
In an ongoing special drive in January 2000, the STF has rescued 12 pangolins alive and recovered 30 kg of pangolin scales from wildlife criminals.
