Balasore: In a tragic incident, a man and his niece lost their lives in a road accident near the Sergarh toll gate under Khantapada police limits in Balasore district on Thursday. The family was en route to witness Durga Puja celebrations.
The deceased has been identified as Prafulla Nayak, a resident of the district.
According to reports, Prafulla was travelling with his family members in a car when the vehicle met with an accident near the Sergarh toll plaza. The collision claimed the lives of Prafulla and his niece on the spot, while his wife and other family members sustained injuries.
Local residents immediately rescued the injured and rushed them to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.
On being informed, Khantapada police reached the spot, launched a preliminary investigation, and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
